Certified Therapy Cat

Texas Red

Texas Red is an orange tabby cat, born in April 2020. He is a firm believer in self-care, organization, balance, and hard work. While the most prominent therapy animals are dogs, Texas dreamed of helping people and wanted to be well prepared to achieve his goal of becoming a therapy cat. In preparation for his application to Texas State, he received training from a certified animal trainer and earned a Novice Trick Cat Title at 8 months old. In August 2021, he successfully passed all evaluations and became the first cat to graduate from the Texas State Animal Assisted Counseling Academy at Texas State University.
